abstract desert art paintings of solitude in the calm quiet space in Arizona
A calm quiet space is created in this abstract desert art inspired by solitude in the Arizona desert and flying. The paintings here can take you to that deserted restful place. Feel the undisturbed emptiness of the desert.
I paint solitude, that beautiful feeling when you are alone and undisturbed by choice. Man’s intrusion into these beautiful places disturbs me but it is also intriguing to see the patterns of roads and railways. The desert is one of my subjects and I travel to New Mexico and Arizona regularly. I am inspired by the quiet friendly towns dotted between vast open spaces, a wonderful place to be.

The journey from Phoenix to Taos via Santa Fe is one of my particular pleasures; I travel it most years on my way to paint with my artist friends. When I arrive I have more inspiration than I need and work at creating the feelings I have experienced when travelling. It is mostly a “peaceful easy feeling” and now understand how the Eagles song was inspired. I hope you enjoy the paintings too … Alan
