Why do we like geometric abstraction?
Geometric abstract paintings attract viewers due mainly to their precise angular shapes. We are comfortable withy their form perhaps because of their familiarity in the world a lot of us live in. I add vibrant colours at times but the angular form is always dominant. We are used to geometric shapes, we see them everywhere, we expect them to be part of a structure that makes sense - I like to to challenge that with unpredictable geometry that spark the attention of the viewer.
Minimalism and Surrealism together with Geometry.
It sounds like too much together but by combining minimalism and surrealism with a geometric design can create powerful expressions .So many surreal paintings are full of symbols and colours and by taking a clean geometric design with few symbols amplifies the message in my view.
How do we react to geometric paintings?
The use of geometry in art taps into a fundamental human appreciation for symmetry and proportion. The angular shapes can evoke a sense of calm and clarity, allowing the viewer to experience a similar state of mind, or they can be illogical and then the imagination can excite the viewer and move their senses ino uncharted territory.

Oh yes geometry in art can readily convey both power and strength. Machinery, Railroads, Buildings and many more come to mind.. We artists can use man made shapes as natural shapes tend to be passive... but dont forget those jagged mountains! You can find inspiration anywhere.

What is a Successful Geometric Painting?
The attraction of geometric abstract paintings lies in their ability to merge precision with imagination, a successful geometric painting should invite endless exploration and interpretation. My only goal when painting is to create an emotion in the artwork and whilst others seek to create something they see I endeavour to create how I feel about what I see.
